SkillBridge Innovation Institute is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it and the rights you have, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
SkillBridge Innovation Institute (“SkillBridge”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our address is 69 Redhoave Road, Poole, BH17 9DT, United Kingdom.
For any question about your data or to exercise your rights, email or call .
2. Information we collect
- Enquiries — when you use our contact form, email, phone or WhatsApp: your name, email address, phone number (optional), whether you are an individual or a business, the course or service you are interested in, your message, and whether you would like to receive course news.
- Consultations and enrolment — the information you choose to share about your education, work experience and goals; your chosen course and payment option; and payment and instalment records.
- Learning records — attendance, lab and project work, assessments, your portfolio, interview preparation feedback, and the references we write for you.
- Business clients — names, job titles and work contact details of your contacts and participants, and the learning records we produce for your organisation.
- Website chat — the messages you type into our chat assistant (see section 4).
- Technical data — our website host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time) to keep the site secure and working. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
We don’t ask for special category data (such as health information). If you choose to tell us about a health condition or disability so we can make adjustments for you, we will use it only for that purpose and with your explicit consent.
3. How we use your data and our lawful basis
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:
- Responding to enquiries and consultations — to take steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering questions about our services.
- Delivering your course or programme, managing payments and instalments, issuing your exam voucher, assessing your work and writing your reference — performance of our contract with you (or with your employer).
- Keeping financial and tax records — legal obligation.
- Sending course news and marketing emails — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
- Our website chat assistant — our legitimate interest in answering visitors’ questions quickly. You choose whether to use it.
- Website security and preventing misuse — our legitimate interest in keeping our services safe.
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Our website chat assistant
The chat assistant on our website is an AI system. It answers general questions about our courses, prices and services using information we have provided to it.
- When you send a message, the conversation is sent through our website host to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a reply. Anthropic acts as our processor and does not use these conversations to train its AI models. It may keep them for a limited period for safety and misuse monitoring under its commercial terms.
- We do not store chat transcripts. Your conversation is kept only in your own browser tab, and is deleted when you close the tab or select “New conversation”.
- The assistant cannot see your account, take payments or make decisions about you. Its answers are for information only and may occasionally be inaccurate — please confirm anything important with our team.
- Please don’t share sensitive personal information (such as health, financial or identity details) in the chat. Contact us directly instead.
5. Who we share data with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only where needed, with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — for example our website host (Netlify), our AI chat provider (Anthropic), and our email and payment providers.
- Certification bodies — the name and email needed to issue your exam voucher and register your exam (for example CompTIA, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, The Linux Foundation or HashiCorp).
- Your employer, if they sponsor or arrange your training — learning and attendance records as agreed with them.
- People you ask us to share with — for example a prospective employer who requests your reference.
- Professional advisers and authorities — where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers (including Anthropic and Netlify) are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by UK adequacy regulations (such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or by the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep your data
- Enquiries that don’t lead to enrolment — up to 12 months after our last contact.
- Learner records, assessments and references — 6 years after your course ends.
- Financial records — 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Marketing preferences — until you unsubscribe (we then keep a note so we don’t contact you again).
- Chat conversations — not stored by us (see section 4).
- Server logs — kept by our host for a short period for security.
8. Keeping your data secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable service providers bound by data processing agreements. Only people who need your information to do their job can access it.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased, or its use restricted, in certain circumstances;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email . It’s free, and we will respond within one month.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
11. Children
Our courses are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised.
